I know that I must sound callous by saying this, but "Who cares?" The problems that illegal immigrants face is a problem of their own creation, not mine. They chose to enter the United States illegally. Picture this! I sneak into Mexico, look for a job, can’t find one, and then start petitioning all of the social services agencies in Mexico for assistance for shelter, medical care, educational benefits, etc. When I don’t receive them, I, along with all of the other U.S. expatriots that illegally entered Mexico, pour into the streets in a mass show of unity and demand them. How do you think that the Mexican government would react?

As it stands now, the illegal entry of Mexicans into the U.S. is an integral part of the Mexican National Budget and a mainstay of the Mexican government’s financial strategy. Their budget depends on the millions of illegal immigrants in the U.S. sending U.S. Dollars back home to relatives. This amount to billions of dollars earned in the U.S. and spent in Mexico. As policy, it is as bold as it is insulting. If we complain, the Mexican government declares us to be racist or anti-Mexican. I know that I’m not against migration of Mexican citizens to the U.S. There is a legal process for this and I think it should be followed. Otherwise, why have an immigration policy at all.  I don’t believe that it is my responibility to support illegal immigrants, their offspring, and the rest of their entire extended families. If permitted to continue unchecked, this is going to come close to bankrupting the U.S. economy, not to mention changing the demographics of the country in a permanent way.
